Patricia Hendricks Farmer serves as the first African American and Latina Mayor of Lawrence Township, New Jersey, bringing a bold yet grounded vision to local leadership. A lifelong resident with family roots in Lawrence dating back to the 1930s, Mayor Farmer combines deep community ties with strategic leadership to drive meaningful progress across the township.
Her administration focuses on inclusive growth, cultural preservation, and civic engagement—revitalizing the community center, launching the township’s historic marker project, and forging partnerships with leading organizations to expand access to youth programming, wellness resources, and creative economic opportunities.
Mayor Farmer’s leadership is marked by collaboration, transparency, and action. She remains a visible, approachable presence in the community—whether hosting town hall events, engaging with local businesses, or representing Lawrence on statewide initiatives.
A graduate of Temple University with a degree in Communications, Journalism, and Public Relations, Mayor Farmer also brings decades of service as a former School Board President and civic league leader. She resides in the historic neighborhood of Eggerts Crossing with her husband and their son, a Lawrence High School student.
